Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Bogotá Headquarters; in alliance with the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation of Colombia (Minciencias) and the Max Planck Society (MPG) from Germany are seeking to establish two

TANDEM GROUPS IN COLOMBIA
in biomedicine, biotechnology and bioeconomy; regarding the therapeutic use of biodiversity.

For this purpose, highly qualified young researchers with at least three years of postdoctoral experience, with motivation to develop and carry out an internationally competitive research program are invited/encouraged to apply.

The selected candidates will fill the position of PRINCIPAL INVESTIGATOR with the title of MAX PLANCK TANDEM GROUP LEADER (MPTGL).

Responsibilities

Besides research activities, Group Leaders must produce high-impact publications and carry out selection and supervision of postdocs, students and technicians who will be part of the project. They should also develop and strengthen collaboration networks with the other tandem groups, within their host institution and with other universities and research institutes in Colombia, and the Max Planck Institutes that are part of the Agreement.

Recruitment conditions

Selected candidates will be enrolled to Universidad Nacional de Colombia as special professors with a highly competitive salary, in accordance with local standards, including benefits such as: Bonus for services rendered, benefits for services, benefits for vacation, vacation time, benefits for Christmas and layoffs benefits with their respective interests.

For the execution of the research proposal, researchers will have at their disposal a laboratory with basic equipment for research on the topics specified for the call and the possibility of acquiring additional equipment. Likewise, access to the laboratory networks of Universidad Nacional de Colombia through alliances with research groups and professors will be granted.

Selection

Proposals meeting the eligibility criteria will be analyzed by a committee of representatives from Minciencias, the National University of Colombia and the Max Planck Society. The pre-selected candidates will be invited to a virtual selection symposium on 20 October 2021 where they will have the opportunity to present their proposal (20-30 minutes) and will have an interview with the selection committee.
